E-courses are simply a series of messages that make up a mini-course on a particular niche topic. They can be delivered through your autoresponder sequence, and will help to connect you and your message with your prospects. I created my first e-course in 2007, and have now found them to be an excellent way to generate income. When writing one for your niche remember to keep the topic as narrow as possible, include a link to the entire course in the second or third lesson, and add your own or affiliate links to the bottom of each lesson.

Keeping your topic narrow will enable you to give detailed information in your e-course. For example, instead of writing about online marketing, write about copywriting and sales letters. Instead of writing about time management, write about managing your time if you work from home. This means that your prospects will learn more about the area that you are most knowledgeable in.

Beginning with the second lesson, you will want to provide a link to your entire e-course in each lesson. I learned this the hard way, when people began contacting me to receive a missing lesson they had not received or could not find in their email. Even though they can download the entire course and all of the lessons at once, they will still want to receive it one lesson at a time as an email message.

Before you even begin creating your e-course, think about what you want to promote to your prospects, both during and after you deliver it. If you are just starting out and don’t have your own products, choose affiliate products and courses to recommend after each lesson. This will bring you multiple streams of passive and residual income for years to come, as well as connecting with people by sharing your knowledge and information.
Repurposing your content will help you to reach more people than ever before, and save your precious time as well. Repurposing is the process of taking something you have already written and turning it into other formats in different ways. Before doing this with anything you have already created, think about the people you are trying to reach, what makes sense for your target audience, and how you will monetize everything you repurpose. By taking this simple action you will have greater success with this process.

Think about the people you want to reach with your message and information. By identifying who you want to connect with you will be able to better craft what you write or record to give them the specific details they are looking to receive. Remember that the Internet has lots of information available to anyone who is searching, so be sure that you are only targeting the people you can best serve. There are plenty of people out there who want exactly what you have to offer them.

How does your target audience prefer to receive their information? Many people still prefer to read, and may even choose to print out what you prepare for them. Others like to listen to the information while they are driving or exercising. Still other people, such as me, enjoy having both the audio and the written material available to consume. It is simple enough to offer your information in multiple formats.

I am in business to earn a living, so I think of how I can monetize each effort I make. I typically start with an article or a blog post to see what kind of reaction I get from my prospects. If they are excited and want to know more, I will then make an audio recording of me reading and paraphrasing my article. The next step is a short report I can either give away or sell. If all of this is popular with the people who are interested, I will go on to add it to a membership site and create a product around it. This is where I am able to make money and build my business. All of my research and writing leads to a product that can be sold for residual income for years to come.

One of the smartest things you can ever do when marketing your business online is to ask the people who are already on your list what they want from you. This is the way to connect with them and to find out how you can best serve them with your knowledge and expertise of your niche topic.

Hold a teleseminar and invite them to ask you anything. I have done this regularly since 2007 with great success. Once I know what my list wants from me, I prepare a course to teach them.

My most recent course teaches how to market for small businesses. My people told me they wanted to be able to make money by blogging and marketing for businesses in their city. I have been doing this since 2006, so I created a course so they could do it as well.

I remember meeting one of my prospects at a live event in 2007. He was a man who had been on my list for almost a year and who seemed interested in what I was doing online. We spoke for a short time and I mentioned something I had blogged about recently. He looked puzzled when I mentioned my blog. It turned out he did not even know I had a blog!

From that point forward I changed how I was presenting my content online. I made sure that my list knew about the other writing I was doing, as well as my teleseminars, short reports, and other content.

Your prospects will want to consume your information in various formats as well, so make sure to offer your content as written, audio, and video on a regular basis. Repurposing your content helps you to reach a wider audience of diverse learners who would not otherwise have found you.
