Welcome to Big Money, Tiny List with Connie Ragen Green

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

My name is Connie Ragen Green, and I’ve been making money online since 2006. I have successfully built a five figure a month income with a very small list. In fact, I was making 10K a month long before I had one thousand people on my list, and I can teach you how to do the same thing by following some simple marketing strategies. I am now a list relationship coach, helping others to build a relationship with the people on their lists in order to increase their online income.

The mission of this site is to teach you how to monetize your list, no matter how small it is. I will share what has worked for me, and welcome your comments and suggestions for what other information you would like for me to share with you.

Even though it is important to be continually growing your list, you certainly do not need a huge list in order to make an excellent living with your online business. Thanks for being here, and be sure to sign up on the right to receive an email notification when I write a new post twice each week. Feel free to leave a comment on any post that resonates with you, and share your own experiences about making big money with a tiny list.

How To Build Trust With Your List By Sharing More About Yourself

What kind of relationship are you building with the people on your list? Do they feel comfortable with you, and trust you enough to ask you anything, knowing you will give them an honest answer every time? Creating this type of know, like, and trust factor does not come easily, but it can be accomplished if you spend some time with getting to know your prospects. I believe it has worked for me because of my email messages, my teleseminars, and my follow up techniques.

My emails almost always include a little something personal about me. I share what it was like to get started online in 2005, when I did not have a clue about starting an Internet business. I relate my current business to what it was like to be a classroom teacher and also work in real estate at the same time.

I have shared my successes, like winning twenty-five thousand dollars in Armand Morin’s contest at the Big Seminar in November of 2009, along with my mistakes, like the time I kept pressing send and accidentally sent out hundreds of messages to my list. By showing my vulnerability as a human being, my list has been

Create Raving Fans By Responding To Their Emails

You can create raving fans very easily on the Internet. Responding to your prospects’ emails is one way of doing this, and you will be connecting with them on a deeper level. We can probably all remember when we were brand now to online marketing and needed help with some of the smallest things. I know that it would have been extremely valuable to me to have someone I could have asked a question and received a reply. Instead, days went by before I could move on. Be the person the people on your list can write to with their questions and you will build a list of loyal and raving fans in a very short period of time.

You need to establish this as part of your business model from the very beginning, because we are not expecting anyone to be open to receiving emails from us. By telling your list to hit the reply button and tell you what’s on their mind, you are opening yourself up to taking your relationship to a whole new level. Imagine your list feeling like you are the one to ask before they make a purchase or other major decision for their business.

I believe this can also be enhanced through teleseminars. I still offer a free call each month for people to

Ask Your List What They Want From You

One of the smartest things you can ever do when marketing your business online is to ask the people who are already on your list what they want from you. This is the way to connect with them and to find out how you can best serve them with your knowledge and expertise of your niche topic.

Hold a teleseminar and invite them to ask you anything. I have done this regularly since 2007 with great success. Once I know what my list wants from me, I prepare a course to teach them.

My most recent course teaches how to market for small businesses. My people told me they wanted to be able to make money by blogging and marketing for businesses in their city. I have been doing this since 2006, so I created a course so they could do it as well.

How I Was Able To Double My List In Less Than 2 Weeks

A special welcome to everyone currently attending Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar Secret’s course. I was a student in Teleseminar Secrets for the first time two years ago, and this is how I originally connected with him. This training changed my online business and marketing knowledge forever, so you are definitely in the right place at the right time. I have gone on to become an affiliate for Alex, and now a partner, just as he teaches in his trainings.

Alex challenged me to double my list back on October 15, 2008. It was during my ‘limo consult’ with him, where we discussed how I could take my business to the next level. When I told Alex that I had 652 people on my list, he insisted that I take action to increase that number dramatically. We agreed that I would work on growing my list to at least one thousand names by the end of October, and to double my list, taking it past 1,300 names, as quickly after that as possible. I had my work cut out for me.

The first thing I did was to send an email to my list, asking them to refer anyone they knew who would benefit from what I teach online. Over the next few days many more people joined my list. I was amazed at how easy it was to reach out to my current subscribers and ask for their help. I learned a huge lesson from this; people really do want to help us to achieve our goals – you just need to ask them.

The second action I took was to create an event over at Facebook. At the time I had about 4,000 friends there, so now I was ready to invite them to a teleseminar training. I chose the topic of affiliate marketing because it is an area I have expereince with and that is of great interest to people building an internet business. I required them to join my list before they would receive the details of the teleseminar training. Many of my Facebook friends opted in to my list in order to be a part of that call.

The third action I implemented was to visit two forums that I had been a part of during the previous few months. Forums, both free and paid, are an excellent way to connect with people who share similar interests with you. They can work like an informal mastermind, allowing you to bounce ideas off of one another. When I told the people in these forums about my challenge with Alex, they were happy to be a part of what I was doing. Within 24 hours they began to tell others about me and what I was doing in my online business. More and more people found me and joined my list.

Within ten days of when I began this challenge my list had

Provide Relevant Content and Information To Your List

Remember why someone joined your list in the first place. Then stay on this topic and provide the very best content and information to them on a regular basis. I am not saying that you shouldn’t include other information in your newsletter, ezine, or email broadcasts, but make sure there is a reason for you to digress.

Think about this for just a moment. If you have signed up here to receive tips on how to make money from a very small list, you would not expect to see a post about blogging for small business or how to write an eBook. Even though you may also be interested in these othe topics, it is not the reason you are subscribed to this blog’s updates. (Make sure you are subscribed to receive updates. I post twice a week on how to make huge profits from a tiny list.)

If you are not sure what your list wants to hear about from you, as them. The people who are interested will be happy to tell you what they want to learn from you. Turn that into an opportunity to connect with more people and to give them exactly what they are looking for.

Why Is It So Important To Make Money With A Tiny List?

I talk here about the many different ways to make money with your small list, but why is that so important? If you think about it, a small list means something different to everyone. I was at a conference recently, and a man was telling me about his small list. When I asked how many people he had, the answer shocked me. He told me that he only had about 20,000 names on his list, and that was why he was setting up his business the way he was. His niche was one where the people who were making money typically had more than 100,000 prospects. That is definitely not the norm, no matter which niche you are in.

My idea of a small list is one with just a few hundred names. I believe it is important to make money with a list that size so you can create a marketing

Include A Set Of Tips In Your Emails To Your Prospects

You gave your prospect something when they originally signed up with you. It may have been a special report on your topic, an eBook, an audio recording, some tips, or any of a varity of other things. Even if you gave them helpful tips, give them some more.

Set up a series of 10 autoresponder messages to go out over a 20 to thirty day period. This means they will receive a new tip every 2 to 3 days. Number them, and make sure they are helpful and informative so your prospect will be able to put them into use right away.

By numbering them, people will look forward to receiving each one in sequence. End each message with an action step or call to action, such as asking them to

Take Your Online Clients Offline

Sometimes we assume that because our clients found us on the internet that we must continue to work with them only online. Nothing could be further from the truth! You can build great rapport with your list by taking them offline as quickly as possible.

As soon as someone signs up for one of your products, courses, or services, send them a postcard or an envelope with a small gift. These ‘lumpy’ packages are lots of fun, and can contain anything from an eraser to a notepad. The point is that you are reaching out to them in a way your competitors likely are not.

Better yet, pick up the phone and thank them personally for their purchase. Ask them if they have any questions about what they have just ordered. I started

Your List Cannot Read Your Mind

It will be a huge mistake if you assume that the people who join your list can read your mind. In fact, they may not be reading your blog or your articles either. It is up to you to let them know what you are up to online.

The way I like to do this is to send them an email about once a month asking them to read one of my articles or my latest blog post and to leave a comment. I include a shortened link to what I want them to read, making it simple for them to click to read what I have written. Last week I sent them a link to a post I had written about Labor Day and what it means to me.

Also remind your list of the products and courses you have to offer. This can be done even if you are recommending and promoting affiliate products. The important thing to remember is
