Welcome to Big Money, Tiny List with Connie Ragen Green

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

My name is Connie Ragen Green, and I’ve been making money online since 2006. I have successfully built a five figure a month income with a very small list. In fact, I was making 10K a month long before I had one thousand people on my list. I am now a list relationship coach, helping others to build a relationship with the people on their lists in order to increase their online income.

The mission of this site is to teach you how to monetize your list, no matter how small it is. I will share what has worked for me, and welcome your comments and suggestions for what other information you would like for me to share with you.

Even though it is important to be continually growing your list, you certainly do not need a huge list in order to make an excellent living with your online business. Thanks for being here, and be sure to sign up on the right to receive an email notification when I write a new post twice each week. Feel free to leave a comment on any post that resonates with you, and share your own experiences about making big money with a tiny list.

Interview The Experts In Your Niche – And Let Them Interview You

When I was new online I did not understand how I would ever be able to interview anyone, let alone be interviewed by others. After the first year I finally got up enough courage to ask two people if I could interview them, and they both agreed. Each person was someone I had purchased a course from, so I was a little bit more comfortable in asking them. They sent me some questions to ask during the interviews, and they went very well.

Within a few months I started doing my own teleseminars. Within a month or so people began asking if they could interview me. I was flattered, and agreed to all interviews. By the end of my second year online I fell into the routine of interviewing and being interviewed on a regular basis. This also helped me to build my credibility and increase my visibility much faster than if I had remained solitary in my business.

Tell your list whenever you are being interviewed so they will have the opportunity to listen. You will share more during than interview than you ever could in your emails or blog posts. This helps you to position yourself as an expert and grow your business quickly.

The Secret No One Tells You About Newsletters

I’ve discussed newsletters here, but there is so much more that you need to know. Offering a free newsletter not only builds your list, but also gives you an opportunity to market to the people who are already on your list. Best of all, you have to do very little in order to create a newsletter filled with great information.

Ask others in your niche to contribute an article each month to your newsletter. I write for two online and one offline newsletters each month, and would be thrilled to write for one or two more. The key is to find people who specialize in an area that is complimentary to what you do, enabling you to work co-opetively together (that’s a combination of cooperation and competition). You can see some examples of newsletters from Armand Morin and Dr. Jeanette Cates, both successful online marketers who have done well with this method of marketing.

They submit an article for you to use, and include a

Remind Them Of What Your Product Has To Offer

You may have a list of people who have opted in to receive more information on your topic, but have not purchased your eBook or other product. I have found that the best way to connect with them is to remind them of what your product or servive has to offer.

For example, tell them about one of your chapters and what information is included there. You will be sharing a few of the benefits with them, and if they are still interested in your topic thay may be more likely to purchase it at this time. By sharing more details of what you know and will be teaching them, it brings your list even closer to the idea of buying your information and solving their problem.

Offer Your List A Free Membership To One Of Your Sites

You may know that I now have 6 membership sites. These sites allow me to have multiple streams of online income in the areas where I am something of an expert. These include article marketing, affiliate marketing, and marketing for small businesses. So how can this help you, you may be asking?

I decided to offer one of these memberships at no cost to the people who have been on my list for more than two years and have continued to be supportive of what I am doing on the Internet to help them achieve the success they want and deserve. This is my way of paying them back for their loyalty and support.

What are you an expert in that you could offer to your list? It is so simple to set up these membership sites now, there just isn’t any reason not to use this technique for building your relationship with your list. Read my short report on membership sites and see how this business model will help you to build your own online empire.

Facebook Fan Pages – List Marketing On Facebook

Facebook Fan Pages are an excellent way to connect with your list as you promote your business on the Internet. This works extremely well, no matter if you work exclusively online, have a physical brick and mortar business, or do some combination of both. There are several things you need to know in order to get started, and then you will be on your way to marketing yourself and your business through one of the best methods now available, all at no cost to you.

Make sure you have an account over at Facebook before you try to go any further. You must have a personal account set up, along with a profile, before you can go any further. This only takes about fifteen minutes from start to finish. Upload a picture of yourself and include a link to a website or blog. Any other information, such as your birthday or relationship status, is completely optional. I find that this information is best for communicating with people you already know, along with family members, rather than for marketing a business and reaching out to potential prospects and customers.

Once you are all set up, look for an application called

Ask Your List What They Want From You

One of the smartest things you can ever do when marketing your business online is to ask the people who are already on your list what they want from you. This is the way to connect with them and to find out how you can best serve them with your knowledge and expertise of your niche topic.

Hold a teleseminar and invite them to ask you anything. I have done this regularly since 2007 with great success. Once I know what my list wants from me, I prepare a course to teach them.

My most recent course teaches how to market for small businesses. My people told me they wanted to be able to make money by blogging and marketing for businesses in their city. I have been doing this since 2006, so I created a course so they could do it as well.

Send Your Apologies To Your List

Last week I had to apologize to the people on my list. I had invited them to a teleseminar training that required a password. The first email I sent contained this password; the follow up email did not.  I did the same thing on my paid call that week.

One of my students wrote to tell me about this. He wasn’t angry, but he had missed out on two calls that he had scheduled his time to listen to. I apologized to him, and then apologized to my entire list for the confusion this had caused. I knew he wasn’t the only person I had inconvenienced.

Don’t be afraid to make a public apology to the people on your list, if it is warranted. Being big enough to admit when you are wrong goes a long way in today’s world, and especially on the Internet, where people are

Membership Sites – Teaching Your List How To Achieve Their Goals

I am a former classroom teacher, so the idea of teaching people on the Internet was a natural progression for me. Sharing great resources that teach valuable concepts is part of what I love to do. Today I want to teach you more about how membership sites can change your online business model.

My colleague Heather Seitz has been online longer than I have, and is brilliant at what she teaches. Here is the way she teaches you how to use a newsletter as part of a membership site to build recurring, residual income. I have 6 of these membership sites so far, and they are extremely profitable for me. Watch it and see how it can work for you.

I have also written a short report on membership sites that I would like for you to read. This is how I have been able to set up my sites so quickly and easily.

Create A Buzz When Marketing To Your List!

Are you excited at the news you are sharing with your list? You must exaggerate what you say and write when you are working online, because the majority of your prospects will never meet you in person. You will want to tell everyone who you are and what you have to offer. This is a form of storytelling that works well on the Internet.

Don’t be afraid to brag about what you are doing and how it will benefit others. You can easily create a ‘buzz’ online by blogging, sending press releases, and sharing information about what you are doing on Facebook and Twitter. Build excitement with everything you, no matter how small it may seem to you at the time. I call this the ‘Kindergarten Effect’ because you will be just as excited in sharing your business news as a Kindergartner is when they have show and tell.

I first did this with an email I sent several years ago. I carried
